St George School has a heated 10-metre hydrotherapy pool that the students access on a weekly basis.
The students weekly swim session is an intergral part of their indivdual and class programs.
These sessions allow for the students to demonstrate a range of movement skills in an aquatic environment such as learning the basic water safety skills such as entering/exiting the pool safely, floating, walking (with or without support) and moving freely in the pool.
Stretching, strengthening, muscle relaxation, fitness and physio-based exercises are important parts of each of theses sessions in the pool. The students also have the opportunity to use the spa during their indivdual swim session.
A range of floatation devices and aides are used with the students to ensure maximum support in the water at all times. We are grateful for the support of our weekly volunteers who ensure that all students swim on a regular basis.
The pool has mobility access including a ramp, pool chair and a hoist.
